All pre-spooled leadcore reels and combos come professionally pre-spooled by our staff as if I we are going to fish them. The backer used is Trilene Big Game in the appropriate pound test and amount to fill the reel according to the leadcore going on the reel, other backer options available as well. The leader is Trilene Big Game too, with many other mono or fluorocarbon options available upon request. Leadcore is standard 18# or 27# depending on the set-up. The pound test rating is that of the sheath covering the lead inside. Leadcore is measured in colors, each color representing 10 yards. In it's simplest form, the more colors being trolled the deeper the presentation will fall.
Common uses for Leadcore Trolling Combos are to name a few: Great Lakes Salmon and Trout trolling; Lake Erie and other Great Lakes and in-land lake Walleye trolling; Striped Bass trolling; Musky trolling; in-land lake and reservoir Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout, Kokanee, and Lake Trout trolling; also a wide variety of Saltwater Trolling applications, however, the longevity of the leadcore line may be decreased due to saltwater use. One popular product used for fishing leadcore is a planer board to take the line out to the side of the boat, we stock many different styles and sizes that are perfect for running leadcore in specific situations, and we are happy to explain the set-up.
Many of our pre-spooled reels and combos come with rigs/baits/lures to get you in the water with a suggestion, colors may vary but usually what you see is what you get, and we can accomodate most substitute requests.

Rod Specs and Details:
Okuma Classic Pro Trolling rods. This series of rods is the same as the older all black models but with a chartruese tip. They are very popular for many leadcore and other trolling/fishing applications.
